Home-Cooked Food Delivery in Bandar Sunway: A Condo Handover Guide
Home-cooked food delivery to a Bandar Sunway condo: what the tiffin set looks like, guardhouse or lobby handover, door hooks and two daily drops.

Searching for home-cooked food delivery in Bandar Sunway usually ends with a condo question rather than a food question. The kitchen may be glad to cook for you, but your building decides how far a delivery travels once it reaches the gate: up to your unit, or no further than the guardhouse or lobby.
Aunty Home Cooking cooks lunch and dinner in a home kitchen in Puchong from Monday to Friday, and delivery to Bandar Sunway is free. This guide is written for condo and apartment residents. It starts by showing what a handover set actually looks like, then works through the building questions, the guardhouse and lobby option, the door hook and the two daily drops, so your first home-cooked meal delivery in Bandar Sunway reaches the right place. If you are still deciding whether the cooking suits your household, our guide to home-style meals in Sunway covers the dishes and food requests.

1. What a home-cooked delivery looks like at a Bandar Sunway condo
Before thinking about lifts and guardhouses, it helps to picture the thing that has to change hands. A meal from our kitchen is not a stack of disposable boxes in a plastic bag. It is three home-cooked dishes, each in its own container. The containers are your own, with no deposit, and many households use a steel tiffin set like the ones in the photos below.
That shape matters in a condo. A few separate containers with handles are easy to carry from a lobby into a lift, easy to pass across a doorway and, where your building allows it, easy to hang on a hook outside the unit. A loose pile of boxes does none of those things well.
At each delivery, this is what changes hands:
- Three dishes, each packed on its own so the sauces stay apart
- A separate container of plain rice, only if you ordered the rice add-on
- The previous meal's empty containers, collected when we swap at a hook
- Your own containers with no deposit, or a lent tiffin set if nobody is home for the first meal
- No printed menu, because the dishes change from day to day
The photos below show two real orders, both packed for two people. One holds chicken in a light broth, a piece of fried fish topped with sliced onion and a container of long beans. The other holds mixed vegetables with tomato, a meat dish in sauce and dark leafy greens. A two-person order is the same three dishes a single diner receives, in larger portions, so the set has the same number of containers and simply weighs more. Keep that extra weight in mind if the meal will hang on a hook.
Treat the photos as examples of the containers and the style of cooking, not as a menu. Lunch and dinner bring different dishes, and the kitchen plans each day around what the morning market has. To see the kind of dishes that rotate through a month, browse the regular dishes on our menu.

2. Ask management how food deliveries work in your block
Every development writes its own delivery rules, and two towers in the same development can work differently. We cannot tell you what your management allows, and we will not guess. The quickest reliable answer comes from the management office or the residents' notice board.
Across the Klang Valley, food deliveries to condos are a familiar source of friction. Some residents expect food at the door, some buildings ask a guard to let delivery staff into the lift, and others prefer every food drop to wait downstairs. A few may not want to hold food at the lobby at all. None of that tells you what your own block does, which is why the question is worth asking directly.
Questions to put to management before the first delivery:
- Can food deliveries go up to the unit door, or must they stop at the guardhouse or lobby?
- Does a delivery need to be registered in advance, or approved by a resident at the gate?
- Is there a delivery lift, entrance or drop-off point?
- Will guardhouse staff hold food for a resident, and for how long?
- Do the rules change on certain days or at certain times?
- May residents fix a hook or leave items outside the unit door?
Ask about food deliveries specifically. Parcels and food are sometimes handled differently, so a neighbour's courier box at the door does not prove that food can come up. Once you have the answers, send them to us in your own words with your block and unit number, and we will agree the handover for your address.
3. When the meal stops at the guardhouse or lobby
If management keeps deliveries downstairs, the guardhouse or lobby becomes the handover point. That works well as long as two things are settled in advance: how the delivery gets past the gate, and who in your household goes down to collect.
For the gate, tell us anything the guard will ask for, such as the unit number and the name the delivery should be registered under. Put this in your first message so the first meal is not held up at the barrier. If your building uses a visitor app or a resident approval step, say who will approve it.
For collection, name one person for each session. We confirm a consistent daily delivery window on WhatsApp when you start, so the person collecting can plan to go down around then. Home-cooked food is best brought up soon after the handover rather than left on a counter for hours, and guards are not always able to watch over food for long.
Developments with more than one block or entrance
Large developments often have a main gate, a side gate and a separate lobby for each tower. Tell us which entrance and which lobby serve your block, and whether the main guardhouse handles deliveries for your tower or passes them on. If you are not sure, ask management where a food delivery for your unit should be handed over and forward that answer to us. A tower name and lobby level are far more useful than a shop or landmark that only residents would recognise.
4. Using a door hook when nobody is home
A door hook lets the meal arrive while the unit is empty. You provide the hook and hang the previous meal's empty containers on it, and they are swapped for the new meal. In a condo, though, the hook only works if two building answers are yes: food deliveries may reach your floor, and residents may hang something outside the door. If either answer is no, the guardhouse or lobby handover is the arrangement to use. A hook is never a way around the building's rules.
This is where containers like the ones in the photos earn their place. A tiffin set with a carry handle hangs neatly and stays upright, so the dishes arrive the way they were packed.
Before the first hook exchange
Run through these checks a few days before you start:
- Fix the hook firmly, at an easy height and clear of the door as it swings
- Make sure it can hold a full set for your headcount, since a three-person meal is heavier than a meal for one
- Keep it on your own door frame or wall, not on a shared railing, unless management has said otherwise
- Keep it clear of a neighbour's door, a shoe rack and the corridor walkway
- Send us a photo or a short description of where the hook is
The very first hook day is different, because no empty set is hanging yet. If the unit will be empty for that first meal, agree the arrangement with us on WhatsApp a day or two before; a tiffin set can be lent and returned the next day.
5. Two deliveries a day means two handovers
Lunch and dinner are cooked as different meals and arrive as two separate trips. In a condo that means two handovers, and each can use a different method within what your building allows. Lunch might hang on the hook while everyone is out, while dinner is handed over at the door.
If you take both sessions and nobody is home for either, the kitchen needs a little extra arrangement, because two sets are in circulation on the same day. A temporary extra set can be arranged and returned the next day. Mention it when you order.
For each session, write down:
- whether anyone will be home, or the unit will be empty
- whether the meal goes to the door, the hook, or the guardhouse or lobby
- who collects it if it waits downstairs
- any weekday when the answer is different
For example, imagine a couple in a Bandar Sunway condo. One works from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, so lunch is received at the door on those days and goes on the hook on the others, assuming the building allows door delivery. Both are home in the evening, so dinner is always handed over in person. Sending that pattern once is much easier than sorting it out each morning. If you have not yet decided which sessions you need, planning weekday family meals in Puchong lays out lunch and dinner day by day, and the method works just as well in Bandar Sunway.
6. Put the handover into your first message
One clear WhatsApp message usually settles both the handover and the total. Start with the building details, then add the order:
- Your full address: development, block, floor and unit
- The handover your management allows: unit door, or guardhouse or lobby
- Lunch, dinner or both, and the headcount for each
- How many people want rice
- Any registration details the guard will ask for
- Whether you will use a hook, and where it is
For example, imagine a resident sending this: "Hi, I live in Bandar Sunway, [block and unit]. Management allows food deliveries up to the unit door. Lunch for two people, Monday to Friday from next week, with rice for both. Nobody is home at lunch, so I will put a hook beside the door. Can you confirm the handover and the delivery window?"
For a two-person order like that, each meal is RM28 and rice is RM2 per person. The full home meal package prices are published, and our checklist for ordering home-cooked food sets them out at a glance, along with the questions worth comparing between services. Food requests go in the same message; the Sunway home-style meals guide linked above explains how to word them. Payment is by DuitNow, bank transfer or cash before the first delivery.
Building arrangements change too. If management updates its delivery rules, the guardhouse changes how it registers deliveries, or you move to another block, tell us before the next delivery day. To skip a day, give at least one day's notice on WhatsApp; our FAQ explains what happens to a paid day.
7. Handover mistakes condo residents often make
Most first-week problems in a condo come from a small assumption rather than anything complicated. These are the ones to rule out:
- assuming food can go up because parcels do
- giving the block but not the unit number, or the other way round
- forgetting that lunch and dinner each need their own handover
- hanging the hook where it blocks the door or the corridor
- leaving a lobby meal uncollected for a long time
- changing the plan on the day instead of a day ahead
There is no minimum order and no contract, so you can start with one meal for one person on one day and see how the handover works in your building before planning a full week.
